A RESOLUTION



NO.



WHEREAS, Columbus citizen Kyle Spencer, an active supporter of the

Chattahoochee Riverkeeper, Inc., has consistently supported the goals of the

organization and has shown commendable interest and concern for the

Chattahoochee River and its environment,



WHEREAS, Kyle Spencer made a substantial financial contribution toward a legal

action that let to significant moves in Atlanta toward ending the pollution of

the Chattahoochee river in that city, thus benefiting Columbus and other

communities downstream from Atlanta,



WHEREAS, On January 21, 2003 the Chattahoochee Riverkeeper honored him with a

reception and made him the first recipient of The Kyle Spencer Environmental

Stewardship Award in recognition of his effective efforts for protection of the

river,



WHEREAS, The Kyle Spencer Environmental Stewardship Award will be presented in

the future to other individuals who, like Kyle Spencer, have truly made a

difference in protecting the river and the river valley environment and have

caused significant positive results in environmental protection in the

Chattahoochee River Valley Basin,



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:



THAT, We commend Kyle Spencer for his environmental concern and his action in

behalf of the Chattahoochee River, and congratulate him on the award that bears

his name,



THAT, We thank Mr. Spencer and the Chattahoochee Riverkeeper for working to end

pollution of the river, congratulate them on their achievements and wish them

continued success.

Introduced and read at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia,

held on the 11th day of February, 2003, and adopted at said meeting by the

affirmative vote of ten members of said Council.
