A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A PASS-THROUGH GRANT FROM

THE GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF LABOR IN THE AMOUNT OF $100,000 FOR A HEALTHCARE

RETRAINING PARTNERSHIP INITIATIVE DEMONSTRATION GRANT AND AMEND THE JOB

TRAINING FUND 220 BY A LIKE AMOUNT.



WHEREAS, Columbus, as the local government agency, is the conduit for

certain pass-through grants appropriated by various state and federal agencies:

and,



WHEREAS, the Lower Chattahoochee Valley Workforce Investment Board

will administer the grant on behalf of Columbus Regional Healthcare System,

Columbus State University, Columbus Technical College, Doctors Hospital, St.

Francis Hospital, and Three Rivers AHEC, who have formed a collaborative to

avoid duplication and overlapping of tasks, and who will use the funds for

recruiting, training, and retaining nursing, pharmacy, medical technology, and

other healthcare students in professions where severe shortages exist in the

Lower Chattahoochee Valley community: and,



WHEREAS, the City of Columbus has no financial requirement in the

execution of this grant and is only responsible as a recipient to monitor the

compliance of the subrecipients and to receive and disburse grant funds; and,



WHEREAS, upon acceptance of the grant agreement and execution of

contract, Columbus Consolidated Government will receive funds as recipient and

then process payment to the grant subrecipients in accordance with the

compliance requirements of the grant.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS

FOLLOWS:



1. That the grant agreement, subsequent contracts and funds be processed by

Columbus for the Lower Chattahoochee Valley Workforce Investment Board on

behalf of the collaborative created by Columbus Regional Healthcare System,

Columbus State University, Columbus Technical College, Doctors Hospital, St.

Francis Hospital, and Three Rivers AHEC as appropriated by the Georgia

Department of Labor.



2. That the Mayor, City Manager and other officials of Columbus are authorized

to take such actions as required by the grant conditions.



3. That the Job Training Fund 220 revenues and expenditures be amended by the

amount of this grant and there is no match requirement.







INTRODUCED at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia, held on
