Subject Grass Cutting - Overgrown Weeds on Private Property
Description Have the staff provide a copy of the ordinance that deals with
overgrown weeds on private property and the notification process with how many
days they have to comply. Do we need to tighten this ordinance for constant
violators -- especially for absentee property owners?

Response A copy of the ordinance pertaining to overgrown weeds is attached
below. We have a list of out of town property owners that are habitual
violators and these properties are cleaned twice a year and a Lien is placed on
the property. We have gone over budget the last two years cleaning properties
throughout this city. In regards to tightening this ordinance for constant
violators, the current ordinance gives us steps to take if the constant
violations are within a one year period. We could reduce the time more, but
that won't resolve the problem. Confiscating the property and reselling it
will solve the problem.
