WHEREAS, Beatrice Allen, guidance counselor at Rigdon Road Elementary School

has recently been named the Georgia School Counselors Association 2004-2005

Elementary School Counselor of the Year;



WHEREAS, Ms. Allen has worked as a guidance counselor since 1997, has a

bachelor?s degree in elementary education from Auburn University (1974), a

master?s degree in school counseling from Auburn University 1984), and received

a specialist?s degree in educational leadership from Troy State University

(1998);



WHEREAS, she regularly works with children with attention deficit disorder and

ADHD and conducts classroom sessions about academic development, personal and

social growth, career orientation, small group and individual sessions for

special needs, workshops in parenting education, faculty counseling and is

involved in the drama club and book club;



WHEREAS, Ms. Allen?s accomplishments are worthy of special recognition by this

Council.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:



We hereby commend and congratulate Beatrice Allen, guidance counselor at Rigdon

Road Elementary School, upon being named the 2004-2005 Elementary School

Counselor of the Year by the Georgia School Counselors Association. Let a copy

of this resolution be forwarded to Ms. Beatrice Allen.

1st day of March, 2005, and adopted at said meeting by the affirmative vote of

ten members of said Council.
