SUBJECT: Alley, Quit Claim Deed



INITIATED BY: City Manager's Office







Recommendation: Approval is requested to execute a Quit Claim Deed to

Murray Ventures, Inc., for an alley 15 feet wide (750 square feet +/-) located

along the rear of properties at 5125 14th Avenue and 5126 13th Ave. Murray

Ventures owns those properties identified by the hash marks (////) and (XXX),

(as shown on the attached map).



Background: Murray Ventures, Inc., is requesting that the City execute a

Quit Claim Deed for all rights, title and interest the City may have in the

above described alley located along the rear of the properties previously

described, in Columbus, Georgia.



Analysis: The alley is located between 13th and 14th Avenue, along the rear of

5125 14th and 5126 13th Avenue, Beallwood Heights Subdivision. Murray Ventures

owns both parcels of property. Written confirmation has been received from all

public utilities stating there are no active utilities located in this alley.

The Engineering Department has examined the alley and has no objections to

abandoning the alley. A segment of the alley has previously been Quit Claimed

to the property owner.

13th Ave. and behind 5125 14th Ave.

















A RESOLUTION

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A QUIT CLAIM DEED TO MURRAY VENTURES,

INC., FOR AN UNUSED (750 SQUARE FEET +/-) ALLEY LOCATED ALONG THE REAR PROPERTY

OF 5125 14TH AND 5126 13TH AVENUES.

WHEREAS, the City owns a 15-ft. unopened alley, of which a segment of the alley

has previously been Quit Claimed to the property owner, that runs across the

rear of the properties listed above owned by Murray Ventures, Inc.; and,

WHEREAS, the City has no present or future use of said portions of the alley;

and,



WHEREAS, Murray Ventures, Inc., wishes to include said alley portions

with his adjoining properties; and,



WHEREAS, all public utilities have sent written confirmation stating

they have no use for this alley.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY

RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

That the City Manager is hereby authorized to abandon a 15 feet wide (750

square feet +/-) alley located at 5125 14th Avenue/5126 13th Avenue and to

execute a Quit Claim Deed to Ventures, Inc., for said property. A copy of said

Quit Claim Deed is also hereto attached and by reference made a part of this

Resolution.



Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia, held
