A RESOLUTION
No.
WHEREAS, in 1992, Pastor J.H. Flakes and Father Charles Roper began a series of
meetings to discuss building bridges across racial, economic, religious and
social lines;
WHEREAS, in 1999, these meetings evolved into the formation of One Columbus,
Inc., a non-profit organization committed to building bridges in our community
through constructive dialogue;
WHEREAS, One Columbus aims to create unity and respect among citizens by
finding common ground around which they can gather to expand the goodwill that
exists in Columbus and the region;
WHEREAS, One Columbus envisions a united community that embraces all people and
give every citizen an opportunity to participate meaningfully in the activities
and decisions that comprise community life;
WHEREAS, this Council desires to express its support for the objectives and
efforts of One Columbus, Inc.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We hereby express our support for the efforts and various community programs
provided by One Columbus, Inc. and express our appreciation for the unity
fostered in the Columbus community by this organization. Let a copy of this
resolution be forwarded to Mr. Ken Crooks, Executive Director of One Columbus,
Inc.

Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia, held on
the 2nd day of August, 2005, and adopted at said meeting by the affirmative
vote of ______ members of said Council.
