The Columbus, Georgia, Board of Tax Assessors met Wednesday, February 25, 2004,

at 2:00PM with Chairman Lawton Grantham, Assessors Richard Stallings, Ann

Grantham, William Braxton and Pat Hunter present. Also present was Chief

Appraiser Martin J. Land.



Assessor Richard Stallings made a motion to approve Minutes #07-04, Assessor

Pat Hunter second the motion, motion carried unanimously.



The Board reviewed and approved a letter forwarded by City Attorney Clifton Fay

regarding a personal property court case.



The following VA letter of application for VA exemption were reviewed and

approved:



Harris 089 016 003 Approved.



Met with Pastor Hassell representing Word of Truth Community Development Corp.

Inc. regarding their request for non-taxability for Parcels ID 027 015 009A,

027 015 010, 027 015 012, 027 015 011 and 027 015 014. Pastor Hassell said the

property is used for church purposes and was used on January 1, 2004. He said

they plan to use some of the property for a daycare and school in the future.

The Board requested a field review.



Met with Mrs. Cloninger representing Little Blessings Nurturing Center, Inc.

regarding a request for non-taxability for property located at 1700 Boxwood

Place (Parcel ID 067 022 015). She said they were opening a childcare center

for children of the age 2 through 5 years. She said the facility is available

for low income families on the Southside of Columbus. She said they do not

receive any State or Federal funds; they depend on private donations and

donations from corporations and foundations. She said they are a 501 ( c) (3)

organization and they are going to open next week. She said the building was

not completed on January 1, 2004. The Board requested that she furnishes a

copy of her 501 (c) (3), Articles of Incorporation and By-laws. The Board

delayed any decision until the information is submitted and reviewed by the

Board.
