Council Members
WHEREAS, on February 12, 2004, units of the Columbus Fire and Emergency Medical

Services Department were dispatched to a structure fire at 4311 Meritas Drive;



WHEREAS, while driving on Meritas Drive, Mr. Anthony (Tony) Komiotis, a Charter

Communications worker, spotted flames and smoke coming from the residence and

called his dispatched and told them to call 911;



WHEREAS, Mr. Komiotis went into the residence and woke Debra Hall who was

asleep on the couch and explained that the house was on fire and then proceeded

down the hallway toward a crying child (18 month-old girl), picked her up and

wrapped her in a comforter and as he was exiting the house, another child (4

year-old boy) ran into him in the hallway, whereupon he led him out of the

house also;



WHEREAS, Mr. Tony Komiotis' brave actions in saving the lives of this family

are worthy special recognition by this Council.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:



We hereby commend Mr. Anthony (Tony) Komiotis for his courageous action in

saving the lives of this family in a structure fire at 4311 Meritas Drive. Let

a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Anthony (Tony) Komiotis.

Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia held on the

9th day of March, 2004, and adopted at said meeting by the affirmative vote of

ten members of said Council.
