WHEREAS, Clay D. Land was sworn in on January 25, 2002 as Judge for the U.S.

District Court for the Middle District of Georgia;



WHEREAS, Judge Land graduated from the University of Georgia School of Law in

1985 and since 1992, he has been a partner at the law firm of Buchanan and Land

in Columbus;

WHEREAS, he

also served as a member of the Columbus Council from 1993-1994 and served as a

Georgia State Senator for District 16 from 1994-2000;

WHEREAS,

Judge Land will handle all civil and criminal cases for the Columbus area and

all criminal and some civil cases for the Thomasville, Georgia area of the

Middle District.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:



We hereby congratulate Judge Clay D. Land upon his investiture as Judge for

the U. S. District Court for the Middle District of Georgia. Let a copy of this

Resolution be forwarded to Judge Clay D. Land.
