The Columbus, Georgia, Board of Tax Assessors met Wednesday, October 30, 2002

at 2:00PM with Chairman Beatrice Breaux, Assessors Lawton Grantham, Richard

Stallings, Ann Grantham and William Braxton present. Also present was Chief

Appraiser Martin J. Land.



Assessor William Braxton made a motion to approve Minutes #42-02, Assessor

Richard Stallings second the motion, motion carried unanimously.



The Board approved assessment corrections for real estate.



The Board reviewed a letter from Julia Ashley regarding the valuation of the

property located at 1001 Blandford Ave. Mrs. Ashley?s letter states that a tree

fell on her house and damaged the property. The Board of Tax Assessors took no

action and asked that she be notified if she disagrees with the valuation to

file a tax return for 2003.



Met with Mr. Nichols regarding the valuation for parcel ID 014 014 013, 040 009

020, 085 044 026. Mr. Nichols said he did not have that much of a problem with

2 of the properties, because they were valued close to the value he recently

paid; however, he felt like the value of the property located at 2120 6th Ave

(Parcel ID 040 009 020) is incorrect, because it was in poor condition; the

floor was falling in and he had to make considerable repairs. The Board advised

him that he did not own the property on the 1st day of this year and when he

purchased it, the taxes were prorated based on the current tax valuation. He

told the Board he had repaired the property since he purchased it. The Board

explained to him that if he feels the current valuation is incorrect to file a

tax return for the year 2003. The Board took no action.
