WHEREAS, Mrs. Vernell Toney, former employee with the Columbus Parks and
Recreation Department, died on October 26, 2003;
WHEREAS, Mrs. Toney retired on June 30, 1992 after serving 30 years with the
Columbus Parks and Recreation Department.
NOW, THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We hereby convey to the family of Mrs. Vernell Toney our sincere condolences
and deepest sympathy. Mrs. Toney was an outstanding employee of the Columbus
Parks and Recreation Department and she will be missed by all who knew her.

WHEREAS, Mr. Elijah Clark, Jr., former employee with the Columbus Public
Services Department, died on December 5, 2003;
WHEREAS, Mr. Clark retired on December 31, 1999 after serving 14 years with the
Columbus Public Services Department.
NOW, THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We hereby convey to the family of Mr. Elijah Clark, Jr. our sincere condolences
and deepest sympathy. Mr. Clark was an outstanding employee of the Columbus
Public Services Department and he will be missed by all who knew him.

died on December 6, 2003;
WHEREAS, Mr. Foxworth retired on March 31, 1997 after serving 10 years with the
Columbus Water Works.
NOW, THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We hereby convey to the family of Mr. James H. Foxworth our sincere condolences
and deepest sympathy. Mr. Foxworth was an outstanding employee of the Columbus

Commissioner's Office, died on December 14, 2003;
WHEREAS, Mrs. McElvey retired on June 30, 1981 after serving 20 years with the
Columbus Tax Commissioner's Office.
NOW, THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We hereby convey to the family of Mrs. Evelyn H. McElvey our sincere
condolences and deepest sympathy. Mrs. McElvey was an outstanding employee of

Enforcement Division, died on December 23, 2003;
WHEREAS, Mr. Taff retired on December 31, 1991 after serving 11 years with the
Inspections and Code Enforcement Division.
NOW, THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We hereby convey to the family of Mr. Raymond J. Taff our sincere condolences

WHEREAS, Mr. Tobe Solomon, Jr., a System Services Coordinator with the Columbus
Water Works, died on January 1, 2004;
WHEREAS, Mr. Solomon had retired on December 31, 2003 after serving 38 years
with the Columbus Water Works;
WHEREAS, Mr. Solomon began work with the Columbus Water Works on May 15, 1965
and he served this community faithfully until his retirement and untimely death.
NOW, THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We hereby convey to the family of Mr. Tobe Solomon, Jr. our sincere condolences
and deepest sympathy. Mr. Solomon was an outstanding employee of the Columbus
Water Works and he will be missed by all who knew him.
