WHEREAS, the Columbus Red Star U-10 Gold Athena girls soccer team

recently played in the Red Star Challenge soccer tournament held December 7-8,

2002 in Columbus;



WHEREAS, the U-10 girls played exceptionally well and lost in the

finals by a score of 2-1;



WHEREAS, this team represented Columbus well and deserves special

recognition from this Council.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:



We commend and congratulate the following members of the Columbus Red

Star Soccer Club U-10 Gold Athena girls upon their outstanding play in the Red

Star Challenge soccer tournament: Ariel Austin, Elizabeth Daugherty, Michelle

Evans, Jessica Freeman, Aquel Hand, Sarah Hatcher, Kristen Humphries, Rachel

Leroy, Taniah Mahoney, Alyssa Phillips, Elyse Schaefer and Katherine Shayne and

Coaches Mike Carmean and Scooter McCullough and Team Manager Sandra Leroy. We

are truly proud of this team and we wish them every success in the future.

WHEREAS, the Columbus Red Star U-12 Gold Athena girls soccer team

recently won the Red Star Challenge soccer tournament held December 7-8, 2002

in Columbus;



WHEREAS, the U-12 girls did not allow a goal to be scored by their

opponents in this tournament;



WHEREAS, the Columbus Red Star Soccer Club also recently sent several

teams to Douglasville, Georgia to participate in the Sugar and Spice soccer

tournament and the U-12 girls played well enough to make it to the finals;



WHEREAS, this team has represented Columbus well and deserves special

recognition from this Council.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:



We commend and congratulate the following members of the Columbus Red

Star Soccer Club U-12 Gold Athena upon their victory in the Red Star Challenge

and their trip to the finals in the Sugar and Spice soccer tournament:

to Clearwater, Florida to participate in the Clearwater Coca Cola Classic

soccer tournament, the toughest soccer competition in the State of Florida;



WHEREAS, the U-13 Gold Athena girls team won the championship and

thrashed their opponent in the finals 6-0;



WHEREAS, this team represented Columbus well and deserves special

recognition from this Council.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:



We commend and congratulate the following members of the Columbus Red

finals against Dothan after a penalty kick shootout;



WHEREAS, the U-11 boys also competed in the prestigious Clearwater Coca

Cola Classic soccer tournament;



WHEREAS, this team represented Columbus well and deserves special

recognition from this Council.

WHEREAS, the boys had handily defeated the Lakeland Lazers 4-0 in the

semi-finals;
