A RESOLUTION



NO.



WHEREAS, Columbus residents have complained to the Alabama Department of

Environmental Management (ADEM) about air pollution problems they believe to be

associated with the Continental Carbon facility located in Phenix City, Alabama;



WHEREAS, ADEM provided a public comment period on a proposed permit issued to

Continental Carbon Company on December 15, 2003, but only published a notice

concerning the proposed permit in the Opelika-Auburn news;



WHEREAS, this Council desires that such publication be made in newspapers in

the Phenix City, Alabama and Columbus, Georgia areas.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:



We hereby request that ADEM publish an additional public comment period

concerning the proposed permit issued to the Continental Carbon Company

facility in newspapers in Phenix City, Alabama and Columbus, Georgia and hold

an additional public hearing after such publication. Let a copy of this

resolution be forwarded to the Alabama Department of Environmental Management.
