A Resolution requesting that the local legislative delegation to the Georgia

General Assembly introduce a bill which would set the salaries of the Municipal

Court Judge, Clerk and Marshal at a percentage of the salaries of the State

Court Judge and the Sheriff; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, salaries of the Municipal Court Judge, Clerk and Marshal have recently

been discussed by this Council with the members of the local legislative

delegation to the Georgia General Assembly;



WHEREAS, various elected officials of the consolidated government receive

salaries which amount to a percentage of the salary of a comparable elected

official and this Council deems it appropriate that the Municipal Court Judge

receive a salary amounting to seventy percent (70%) of the salary of a Muscogee

County State Court Judge and that the Municipal Court Clerk and Marshal

receive a salary amounting to seventy percent (70%) of the base salary of the

Muscogee County Sheriff, excluding any salary supplement.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:



We hereby request that the local legislative delegation to the Georgia General

Assembly introduce a bill which would set the salary of the Municipal Court

Judge at seventy percent (70%) of the salary of a Muscogee County State Court

Judge and which would set the salary of the Municipal Court Clerk and Marshal

at seventy percent (70%) of the base salary of the Muscogee County Sheriff,

excluding any salary supplement. Let a copy of this Resolution be forwarded

to each member of the local legislative delegation to the Georgia General

Assembly.
