NO.
WHEREAS, Mrs. Janice Bland Dickens, Chairperson of the Muscogee County Board of
Elections and Registration, died on November 20, 2003;
WHEREAS, Mrs. Dickens served as Chairperson of the Board since 1999, and had
served over 12 years with the Board of Elections and Registration;
WHEREAS, Mrs. Dickens supervised the implementation of computerized voting
machines in Columbus along with other Board members and worked diligently to
ensure accurate election tabulation and reporting to Columbus citizens;
WHEREAS, she also was a member of the Republican Women's Club, served as
co-chairman for the Reagan Presidential Campaign, was a life member in the
National PTA and helped found the Sara Spano Clothing Bank in Columbus;
WHEREAS, she was a member of Central Christian Church and is survived by three
sons, Danny Dickens and wife Vicki of Fortson, Georgia, Jimmy Dickens and wife
Pam of Montgomery, Alabama, and Bobby Dickens and wife Jerri of Columbus, eight
grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
NOW, THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We hereby convey our sincere condolences and deepest sympathy to the family of
Mrs. Janice Bland Dickens. Her service to the Columbus, Georgia Consolidated
Government and to our community will long be remembered. Let a copy of this
resolution be forwarded to the family of Mrs. Janice Bland Dickens.
