MINUTES # 30-04



The Columbus, Georgia, Board of Tax Assessors met Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at

2:00PM with Chairman Lawton Grantham, Assessors Richard Stallings, Ann

Grantham, William Braxton and Pat Hunter present. Also present was Chief

Appraiser Martin J. Land.



Assessor Ann Grantham made a motion to approve Minutes # 29-04, Assessor

Richard Stallings second the motion, motion carried unanimously.



The Board approved assessment corrections for real estate.



The Board reviewed the requested management plans for parcel ID 102 001 006 and

162 001 008 and approved the applications for conservation use for 2004.



The Board reviewed two letters from Attorney Barry Vaught regarding parcel ID

171 006 003 and account # A0313701. The Board took no action since the appeal

deadline had expired for both parcels.



Assessor William Braxton recused himself.



Met with David Boyd regarding his personal property account # 05486301. Mr.

Boyd said he went out of business in 2000 and went to work for someone else. He

said his assets were junked or returned to personal use. Mr. Boyd said he was

not aware that he had to close his business license. He said the mail for his

business was coming to this father?s address and he did not recall receiving

bills or tax returns. The Board removed the assessment for the years 2003 and

2004.



Met with Ms. McNeill representing Revelation Missionary Baptist Church, Inc.

requesting non-taxability for property located on Bogart Dr (094 019 008). Mrs.

McNeill said the property is used for parking and was being used on January 1,

2004. The Board requested a field review.



Met with Pastor Johnson representing South Atlantic Conference Assn of Seventh

Day Adventists, Inc. requesting non-taxability for property located at 2423

Woodruff Farm Rd (096 007 063). Pastor Johnson said the church building and

parking area was used on January 1, 2004. The Board requested a field review.
