Council Members
WHEREAS, students from East Columbus Magnet Academy recently participated in

an Arbor Day tree planting program at their school;



WHEREAS, these students participated in the planting of 60 trees on the

two-acre East Columbus campus on February 21, 2003;



WHEREAS, Trees Columbus, Inc. organized the donation of the trees and

necessary supplies and material and Georgia Power Company donated mulch for the

project;



WHEREAS, the efforts of these students will help to improve the quality of life

for Columbus residents, enhance the beauty of the community, clean the air and

provide additional habitat for wildlife.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:



We hereby commend and express our appreciation to the following East Columbus

Magnet Academy faculty for their participation and supervision of students

during the Arbor Day activities in Columbus: Dr. Carol Hutcheson, Principal,

Yvonne Russell, Secretary, Joani Bigham, Alicia Conley, Patricia Horner, Jamie

Layne, Gail Sinkule and Barbara Tolbert, Teachers, and Yvette Jones and Dell

Taylor, Guidance Counselors. Let a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dr.

Carol Hutcheson, Principal of East Columbus Magnet Academy, Trees Columbus,

Inc. and Georgia Power Company.

Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia held on the

4th March, 2003, and adopted at said meeting by the affirmative vote of ten

members of said Council.
