A RESOLUTION

No.



WHEREAS, Marc Upshaw will be in Columbus August 1-5, 2005 to assist Toronto

Raptor Head Coach Sam Mitchell in running a youth basketball camp for the

Columbus community;



WHEREAS, the Sam Mitchell ?Dream and Achieve? Youth Basketball Camp will be

held at the Lumpkin Center, Columbus State University, and sponsored by

Columbus Bank & Trust Company;



WHEREAS, Marc Upshaw and Coach Mitchell hope to raise money for computers to be

placed in all recreation centers in Columbus;



WHEREAS, Mr. Upshaw graduated from Columbus High School in 1979 where he was

named All Bi-City Basketball Player of the Year following his senior season;



WHEREAS, he also received a basketball scholarship to the University of Rhode

Island, graduated and was drafted by the Atlanta Hawks in 1984;



WHEREAS, he now works as CEO of Global Diagnostic Services, Inc. based in

Conyers, Georgia and his company does diagnostic testing and nurse staffing in

nine states including Georgia;



WHEREAS, the contributions and accomplishments of Marc Upshaw are worthy of

special recognition by this Council.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:



We hereby commend and express our deep appreciation to Mr. Marc Upshaw, CEO of

Global Diagnostic Services, Inc. for his commitment to the young people of the

Columbus community and his assistance in holding the Dream and Achieve Youth

Basketball Camp at Columbus State University. Columbus is truly proud of Marc

Upshaw and we wish him every success in the future. Let a copy of this

resolution be forwarded to Marc Upshaw and Columbus Bank and Trust Company.
