The Board of Elections and Registration Board meeting was held October 8, 2003

at 2:00 p.m.

Mr. Wright, Vice-Chairperson called the October board meeting to order in the

absence of the Chairperson, Jan Dickens.





S Y N O P S I S





Motion made and seconded to accept the minutes of the September board meeting.

Vote was unanimous.



COMMENTS:



Nancy told the board that the absentee process on the DRE units has begun. We

have had positive response from the electors that have voted in the office.



Nancy asked Diane Scrimpshire to explain to the board the procedure for opening

and closing the absentee precinct. Each unit is sealed at 5:00 p.m. and the

seals kare recorded and confirmed the next morning. Four units are being used

for the absentee voting. Advanced voting begin October 27, 2003 through October

31, 2003 at 5:00 p.m. The board discussed concerns about voting on the DRE

units.

OLD BUSINESS:



A draft of the by-laws for the Board of Elections and Registration were

reviewed by the presiding board members.



A motion was made and seconded for the board to go into executive session to

discuss personnel issues. Vote unanimous.



CORRESPONDENCE:



None received.



Motion was made by Eleanor White and seconded by Ken Barfield to adjourn

meeting. Vote was unanimous.
