A RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, the Brookstone School Lady Cougars tennis team recently won their

seventh Class A State Championship in Stone Mountain, Georgia; and,



WHEREAS, the Lady Cougars defeated St. Francis in the semifinals and

then went on to win a thrilling 3-2 match against Athens Academy for the

championship; and,



WHEREAS, the Brookstone boys also won their first state championship since 1987

to complete the weekend sweep; and,



WHEREAS, the accomplishments of these Brookstone tennis teams are worthy of

special recognition by this Council.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:



We commend and congratulate Brookstone School Lady Cougars tennis players

Charity Calhoun, Rudi Cumiskey, Elizabeth White, Masy Swift, Kathleen Pease,

Mary Scarborough, Riley Prescott, Sally Varner, Elizabeth McClung and Coach

Mary Lynne Cumiskey upon their victory in the 2005 Class A State Championship

in Stone Mountain, Georgia. Columbus is proud of these athletes and their

accomplishments and we wish them every success in the future. Let a copy of

this resolution be forwarded to the above-named participants.
