Subject Public Facilities



Description Have the staff to look at the concerns that were expressed by the

citizen who appeared before the Council at the October 4th Council meeting as

to why public facilities, i.e., tennis courts are closed on holidays. (Request

of Councilor Suber)



Have the City Manager to bring this matter before the Budget Committee.

Response As part of our FY06 10% budget cut, we looked at the hours of Cooper

Creek Tennis Center.

We were previously open 92 hours per week and open on all holidays except

Thanksgiving Day.



As part of our cuts, we reduced the hours whereby the center is open 78 hours

per week and closed on all holidays that the city is closed. ( This added 7 or

8 additional days closed for holidays)



Besides the savings in utility costs, we also cut in FY06 $29,269 from Cooper

Creek's wage line item account as part of our Savings. This number was derived

from savings of the 14 hours per week cut and the holidays that staff would not
