The term of office of Mrs. Brenda Dozier on the Recreation Advisory Board
expired on December 31, 2004. Mrs. Dozier cannot succeed herself, as this will
be the end of her second full term of office on the board.
Mrs. Dozier serves as the Muscogee County School Board?s representative.
The School Board?s representative term of office is for a one-year term. A
letter has been written to the Superintendent of Schools requesting their
nominee.
Enclosed is a copy of our data sheet, as well as a list of the current
members.

Commission on January 13, 1948 as amended by Ordinance No. 69-328, 1980, as
amended by Ordinance 92-10 adopted February 4, 1992. (Amended by Ordinance No.
00-42)
CHARTER REFERENCE: Formerly referenced in Sec. 4-612 but this section was
deleted by Act No. 1183 and Act No. 1237, Ga. Laws 1980, but see Section 4-103,
General Provisions Concerning Boards, Commissions and Authorities.
COLUMBUS CODE REFERENCE: See Sec. 4-27 through 4-31 for references to this
specific board and Sec. 2.1, 2-3.01, 2-3.02 and 2-3.1 for general provisions
relating to all boards, commissions, authorities and committees
COMPOSITION OF BOARD: Eleven members. (Ord. No. 00-42)
QUALIFICATIONS OF MEMBERS: Not addressed by above Columbus Code sections other
than Sec. 4-31 provides that the Columbus Council shall request the Muscogee
County School Board to recommend a nominee from the school board athletic and
recreation council to serve as on of the members of the board. See Council
Districts below, and Sec. 2-3.02 (a) Col. Code for general qualifications of
all boards.
MEMBERS APPOINTED BY: Not addressed by above Columbus Code Sections, but the
members have always been appointed by the Council.
TERMS OF OFFICE: Five years, based upon the provisions of Res. No. 16-17 which
appointed members immediately after the effective data of consolidation.
EXCEPTION: The member nominated by the school board serves for only one year
at a time since this board appoints committees with only one year duration.
POWERS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Serve in as advisory capacity to the
Director of Parks and Recreation for the consideration of policies of the
department of recreational programs and facilities throughout the community.
COMPENSATION: Not addressed by above Columbus Code sections, but the members
have never been compensated.
SUCCESSION OF MEMBERS: See Col. Code Sec. 2-1 for general provisions applying
to all boards, commissions, and authorities.
