MINUTES # 12-03





The Columbus, Georgia, Board of Tax Assessors met Wednesday, March 26, 2003 at

2:00PM with Chairman Lawton Grantham, Assessors Richard Stallings, Ann

Grantham, William Braxton and Pat Hunter present. Also present was Chief

Appraiser Martin J. Land.



Assessor Ann Grantham made a motion to approve Minutes #11-03, Assessor Pat

Hunter second the motion, motion carried unanimously.



The Board approved assessment corrections for real estate.



Chief Appraiser Martin Land reported that he contacted City Attorney Clifton

Fay regarding the Georgia Baptist Children?s Home and Family Ministries request

for non-taxability for parcel ID 007 010 003 and the City Attorney?s his

opinion is that the property qualifies for tax exempt status. Mr. Land also

told the Board that we asked the Georgia Baptist Children?s Home and Family

Ministries to complete a new legible request for non-taxability.



The following VA letters of application for VA exemption were reviewed and

approved:



DeLima 062 021 031 Approved.

Crapps 136 001 027 Approved.



Met with Commercial Division Chief Linda King, reviewed and approved the

following:



2003 Map Splits: 2

Permits: 29



Met with Personal Property Division Chief Oliver Juhan, reviewed and approved

the following:



Assessment Corrections: 2 (-)

Freeport Applications: 8 (Approved)
