The Columbus, Georgia, Board of Tax Assessors met Wednesday, June 23, 2004, at

2:00PM with Chairman Lawton Grantham, Assessors Ann Grantham, William Braxton

and Pat Hunter present. Also present was Chief Appraiser Martin J. Land.

Assessor Richard Stallings was absent.



Assessor William Braxton made a motion to approve Minutes # 25-04, Assessor Pat

Hunter second the motion, motion carried unanimously.



The Board approved assessment corrections for real estate.



The Board reviewed applications and continuations for the Conservation Use

Assessment of Agricultural Property and approved the applications and

continuations for the following parcels:

107 001 004H;108 001 003; ;108 001 005;103 001 017 & 017A; 137 001 004BH; 137

001 004C;

137 001 013; 150 001 001; 126 001 033; 176 001 001; 175 001 003 and denied the

applications for following parcels: 154 001 016H, 141 002 003. The Board

requested additional information for the following parcels: 194 002 003; 165

002 006; 102 001 006; 162 001 008;



Met with Mrs. Walton and Mrs. Secoy regarding personal property account

06198201. Mrs. Walton told the Board Joseph Pernice, her common-law husband,

opened ?Urban Gear & Accessories? in 2001. She said in 2002 he got into trouble

and had to go to jail. She said they terminated the lease with Scott-Whitten,

Inc. on April 29, 2002 and all the assets were ceased in April of 2002. She

said Joseph Pernice was killed on May 15, 2003. Ms. Walton said she did not

know why he did not file a tax return or closed the business license. The

Board advised her to close the business license. The Board removed the

assessment for the year 2004 but took no action on the previous years.
