A RESOLUTION
NO.
WHEREAS, Trees Columbus, Inc. recently established its first annual Holiday
Forest by planting native trees along Lindsey Creek in front of Peachtree Mall
on January 11, 2003;
WHEREAS, partners in this project were Peachtree Mall, the Georgia Forestry
Commission, the Georgia Power Company, the Columbus, Georgia Consolidated
Government, and the Keep Columbus Beautiful Commission;
WHEREAS, volunteers from these organizations and students from Carver,
Brookstone and Pacelli High School and CSU gathered to plant 58 trees on a
two-acre site;
WHEREAS, through the Holiday Forest program, Trees Columbus hopes to
demonstrate that greenspace can be recreated anywhere for the benefit of all
our citizens.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We commend and express our appreciation to Trees Columbus, Inc. and its
Executive Director, Susan B. Kleto, Peachtree Mall, the Georgia Forestry
Commission, the Georgia Power Company, the Columbus, Georgia Consolidated
Government, the Keep Columbus Beautiful Commission, and students from Carver,
Brookstone, Pacelli, and Columbus State University for their work on the
Holiday Forest tree planting near Peachtree Mall. Let a copy of this
Resolution be forwarded to the above organizations.
