The term of office of Mrs. Jean Harper on the Board of Family & Children

Services will expire on June 30, 2004. Mrs. Harper is eligible to succeed

herself for another term of office and would like to do so as indicated by the

enclosed letter received from the Chairperson of the Board.



Including Mrs. Harper, there are three members who reside in Senatorial

District 15. There are two members who reside in Senatorial District 16.

CREATED BY: An Act of the General Assembly of Georgia, approved February 26,

1937 (Ga. Laws 1937, Page 355) as amended.



CHARTER REFERENCE: Sec. 4-602, which changed the name of this board to: Board

of Family and Children Services of Columbus, Georgia, and Sec. 4-103, general

provisions applying to all boards.



COLUMBUS CODE REFERENCE: Sec. 2-1, 2-3.01, 2-3.02, and 2-3.1 for general

provisions relating to all boards, commissions, authorities, and committees.



QUALIFICATIONS OF MEMBERS: Influential and respected citizens recognized for

their demonstrated interest in family and children services provided by the

county department who have signed a statement certifying to the Columbus

Council that they will serve official of the state or any subdivision thereof.

POWERS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This board is responsible for the

operation of the Columbus Department of Family and Children Services. See the

Official Georgia Annotated, Title 59, Chapter 3 and handbook for Members of

Muscogee County Boards of Family and Children Services published by the Georgia

Department of Human Resources, a copy of which is provided to each board member.



COMPENSATION: Members serve without compensation. O.C.G.A. 49-3-2 (e)
