THE GREATER COLUMBUS GOLF AUTHORITY

MINUTES OF MEETING

May 25, 2004

The Greater Columbus Golf Authority held the scheduled monthly meeting at Oxbow

Creek Golf Course. Members present were Chairman Donald Clack, Floyd

Washington, Richard Hagler, Willie Hill, Rick Cravens, Nancy Wilkeson, Rhudine

Nelson and June Holder. Earl Bagley had an excused absence. Staff members

present were John Milam and Steve Brown.

Minutes of the April 27, 2004, meeting were approved as presented. Motion made

by Richard Hagler and seconded by June Holder.

Report of Steve Brown, Superintendent

The greens are continuing to grow at a healthy rate. Top dressing is done on a

weekly basis. The rye grass on the tees is dying out. The fairways have been

treated to control nut grass. The fairways have been sprayed with a growth

retardant, which will cut down on the clipping left behind from the mowers.

Hole #13 on the West Course was rolled and mowed this past week. Sod has been

placed in all the ditch lines. Round up was sprayed along the wood lines.

Approximate opening date for the West Course is July 1st if no problems arise

between now and then.

A new prison guard has been hired and should begin work at Bull Creek in July

after he has completed his four-week re-certification course.

Georgia Power is currently replacing the electrical power to the course. The

existing wire is approximately 30 years old and all but one section will be

replaced.

Nancy Wilkeson stated her concerns regarding the small flags on the flagstick

that indicate the hole position on the greens. Steve says that since the flags

are so easily re-positioned, he would prefer to do away with the small flag

altogether. John suggested going to a 3-flag system or the grid system. We

also are looking into new yard markers for the sprinkler heads; the current

ones do not adhere properly and new yard markers that will cover the entire

head are $5.50 each.

Report of John Milam, Director of Golf

Godwin Creek

Godwin Creek has $569 in the bank and still $5000 in debt. The revenue in the

last four months has totaled $233. John Milan has found fertilizer from Parks

& Recreation to be delivered and put out by Bull Creek Maintenance, however the

pump needs to the fixed at a cost of $8100 before the fertilizer can be

spread. A motion was made by Richard Hagler and seconded by Rick Cravens to

authorize John Milam to notify the First Tee Program that the irrigation system

must be repaired and paid for within a reasonable time period. If this cannot

be accomplished, a letter to terminate the lease will be forthcoming.

Bull Creek

We should have one more losing month of revenue, which puts us at approximately

$350,000 for the fiscal year. The 25 new carts will arrive by mid-June. The

West Course was re-rated last week and when those results are completed new

scorecards will be ordered.

Project Update

Some ditch lines collapsed and were filled with sand and then sodded. The 13th

green is coming in nicely. The City has agreed to install an 8? privacy fence

approximately 800 feet in length along with 12 Pampas grass to be planted to

separate the 7th tee box from the Northern Little League fields. The water

run-off from the fields does not appear to drain toward the golf course. The

drink machine will be located between 11th green and 12th tee to eliminate

vandalism.

A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held in late July.

Golf Rates

A motion was made by Richard Hagler and seconded by Willie Hill to accept a

proposed rate increase at Bull Creek. In addition to John Milam?s proposal,

cart fees will be increased by $1. These rates will go into effect July 1st.

In January 2005, the Authority will look into another rate increase. It was

not recommended that higher fees be charged for playing the West Course.

Al Riesenburger

Mr. Riesenburger recently passed away and Bull Creek would like to honor him

for his dedicated work and many contributions as Chairman of the Greater

Columbus Golf Authority. Mr. Riesenburger chaired this committee for 10 years

and he was instrumental in the original idea to build a ?city? golf course. In

his honor a tree will be planted and marked with a bronze plaque.

A motion was made at 4:50 p.m. to adjourn by Richard Hagler and seconded by

June Holder.

Respectfully submitted,

Nancy Wilkeson, Secretary
