(A) SMOKE DETECTORS FOR ELEVATORS ? BID NO. 03-0040
It is requested that Council authorize the purchase of elevator smoke detectors
from Columbus Fire & Safety Equipment Company, Inc., in the amount of
$26,895.00. The vendor will provide and install smoke detectors in each
elevator lobby at each floor and in the machine room of the Government Center.
This purchase is mandated by the GA Department of Labor, Safety Engineering
Section proposed and adopted Elevator Regulation 300-3-6-13(5). This rule
requires all existing elevators, having a travel of more than 25 feet, to
comply with ?Fire Emergency Service? requirements of ASME A17.1, 1987 Edition.
This requirement is also a part of the ?Life Safety Codes? NFPA-101, Chapter
7-4.
Ninety bid invitations were mailed. A Mandatory Pre-Bid Conference/Site Visit
was held on December 6, 2002; five vendors attended the conference. Two bids
were received on December 18, 2002. This bid has been advertised, opened and
reviewed. The bidders were:

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF ELEVATOR SMOKE DETECTORS FROM
COLUMBUS FIRE & SAFETY EQUIPMENT COMPANY, INC., IN THE AMOUNT OF $26,895.00
WHEREAS, The vendor will provide and install smoke detectors in each
elevator lobby at each floor and machine room of the Government Center; and,
WHEREAS, This purchase is mandated by the GA Department of Labor,

from Columbus Fire & Safety Equipment Company, Inc., in the amount of
$26,895.00. Funds are available in FY03 Budget, Public Services ? Other
Maintenance/Repairs, Building Maintenance-General Government;

twelve-month periods.

Scope of Bid
Provide sports equipment of current model/production year to be utilized by the
Parks and Recreation Department of the Columbus Consolidated Government.

Implementation of a Criminal Records Management System - RFP 03-0018
Scope of RFP
Provide consulting services to assist with the operational design and selection
of an integrated records management system for the Columbus Police, Sheriff,
Fire/EMS Department and Courts. The successful bidder may be chosen to
implement the software and processes redesign initiatives.
