MINUTES # 36-02



The Columbus, Georgia, Board of Tax Assessors met Wednesday, September 11,

2002, at 2:00PM with Chairman Beatrice Breaux, Assessors Lawton Grantham,

Richard Stallings and William Braxton present. Also present was Chief Appraiser

Martin J. Land. Assessor Ann Grantham was absent.



Assessor Richard Stallings made a motion to approve Minutes #35-02, Assessor

William Braxton second the motion, motion carried unanimously.



The Board approved assessment corrections for real estate.



Met with Mr. King regarding his personal property account # B141201. Mr. King

said he wanted to apologize that in his letter he had stated he sold the Jet

Ski in 1996 and the Tax Assessors? records indicated it was 1997 when he sold

it, which is correct. He said he sold it to a soldier who moved out of town

and he was unaware that he had back taxes on the jet ski until he refinanced

his house in November of 2001. He said he paid the tax liens for 1997 through

2000. He asked the Board to remove the outstanding assessment for 2001.

Assessor Richard Stallings made the motion to remove the assessment for 2001

and Assessor William Braxton second the motion. Assessor Lawton Grantham

dissented.
