AN ORDINANCE
NO.
An ordinance requiring all applicants for the positions of
Firefighter/EMT or Firemedic as established in Ordinance No. 02-103 to
successfully pass the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) within the
twelve-month period immediately preceding the date of an offer of permanent
employment; and for other purposes.

THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION 1.
Effective September 11, 2003, all applicants for the positions of
Firefighter/EMT or Firemedic as established in Ordinance No. 02-103 shall have
successfully passed the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) within the
twelve-month period immediately preceding the date of an offer of permanent
employment. However, in case of substantial hardship which threatens the
public health, safety and welfare, the Mayor, Fire Chief and City Manager may
make exception to this ordinance and shall notify the Columbus Council at
least 48 hours prior to taking such action.
SECTION 2.
All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict with this ordinance are
hereby repealed.
