The terms of office of Mr. Charlie Fortson, and Ms. Cynthia Walker on the
Community Development Advisory Council will expire on March 27, 2003.
Mr. Fortson and Ms. Walker are not eligible to succeed themselves, as this
will be the end of the second full term of office when their current term
expires. We also need a nominee for Council District Five representative, of
Mr. Homer Kuhl, who resigned some time ago.
The positions of Mr. Fortson and Ms. Walker are appointments to be filled
by Mayor Poydasheff.
There are thirteen (13) members who serve on this board, of which there are
six women who currently serve on this board.
Enclosed is a copy of our data sheet, as well as a list of the current
members.

The regular meeting shall be held on the third Tuesday of February, May,
September and December unless it is a holiday or otherwise approved by the
Community Development Advisory Council Chairperson.
Charge/Mission
The purposes of the Consolidated Government of Columbus, Georgia Community
Development Advisory Council are: To provide an advisory function to the City
Council of The Consolidated Government through its (departments and staff), an
annual staff and annual program plan for the Community Development Block
Program and other Federal Grant programs administered by the Community and
Economic Development Department; to provide a forum (regularly scheduled
meetings for the exchange of ideas and considering decisions regarding the
Community Development Program and other Federal Grant programs; to provide a
vehicle for communicating community needs between the citizens, Community and
Economic Development Staff, other Departments and the City Council of Columbus,
Georgia; to assist in determining the communities needs on all grant
applications for Community Block Grant funds other available HUD Grant funds;
to monitor program development (progress on approved projects) and routinely
review expenditures as outlined in applications for funding and to recommend
programs, activities or projects to Community and Economic Development Staff to
under taken by the Community Development Block Grant funds and other HUD Grant

COMPOSITION OF BOARD: The Columbus Consolidated Council Community Development
Advisory shall be composed of no less than thirteen members
QUALIFICATIONS OF MEMBERS: Member must be a resident of Muscogee County.
MEMBERS APPOINTED BY: Ten members, one from each Council District to be
appointed by the Representing Councilor and three members from the neighborhood
stategy redevelopment and revitalization areas and community recommended by
Community Development Staff to be appointed by the Mayor and the Community and
Economic Development Staff will serve as non-voting members, in an advisory
role and a member will be appointed secretary of the Advisory Council.
TERMS OF OFFICE: Members appointed by Council shall serve for two-year terms
and members appointed by Mayor shall serve for three-year terms.
