SUBJECT: Proposed No Parking Zone ? 32nd Street



INITIATED BY: Department of Engineering







Recommendation: Approve the attached ordinance enacting a No Parking Anytime

Zone along the north curb of 32nd Street, beginning at to the east curb of 2nd

Avenue and running east to the west curb of 4th Avenue.



Background: The City received a request from Swift Mills to establish a No

Parking Anytime Zone along the north curb of 32nd Street in front of their

property. Swift Mills owns all of the property along the north curb of 32nd

Street from 2nd Avenue to 4th Avenue.



Analysis: The removal of on-street parking along the north curb of 32nd Street

in front of the Swift Mills property will improve the safety of the Swift Mills

employees having to walk across 32nd Street.



Alternatives: The existing on-street parking can remain as it is today.



Financial Considerations: The installation of the No Parking Anytime Zone will

cost the City approximately $600.00.



Legal Considerations: A No Parking Anytime Zone requires an ordinance adopted

by Council.



Recommendations/Actions: Approve No Parking Anytime Zone along the north curb

of 32nd Street.

AN ORDINANCE REGULATING VEHICULAR TRAFFIC IN COLUMBUS, GEORGIA BY ESTABLISHING

A NO PARKING ANYTIME ZONE ALONG THE NORTH CURB OF 32ND STREET, BEGINNING AT THE

EAST CURB OF 2ND AVENUE AND RUNNING EAST TO THE WEST CURB OF 4TH AVENUE;

AUTHORIZING THE INSTALLATION OF OFFICIAL TRAFFIC CONTROL SIGNS INDICATING A NO

PARKING ANYTIME ZONE; REPEALING CONFLICTING ORDINANCES AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY ORDAINS:



SECTION I.



That is shall be unlawful to park or rank any vehicle at any time along the

following street segment:



Along the north curb of 32nd Street, beginning at the east curb of 2nd Avenue

and running east to the west curb of 4th Avenue.



SECTION II.



That official traffic control signs shall be installed indicating the No

Parking Anytime Zone described here within Section I.



SECTION III.



That all ordinances or parts of ordinances that are in conflict with this

ordinance are hereby repealed.
