A RESOLUTION
No.
WHEREAS, Michael "Jared" Martin, a teacher at Martin Luther King, Jr.
Elementary School, was the first student from Columbus State University Schwob
School of Music to hold a senior guitar recital in Legacy Hall of the
RiverCenter;
WHEREAS, during the summer of 2002, he will receive two degrees from Columbus
State University, a Bachelor of Music in Instrumental Performance and a
Bachelor of Fine Arts;
WHEREAS, Michael studied with Dr. Andrew Zohn for three years and currently
teaches guitar and music fundamentals for the Columbus State University
Conservatory, while also teaching art classes at the Rankin Arts Center;
WHEREAS, Michael's parents, Rev. Willie C. and Dianne Martin, moved to Columbus
in 1985 for Rev. Martin to assume pastoral leadership of First Free Will
Baptist Church in Columbus, Georgia.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We commend and congratulate guitarist Michael "Jared" Martin upon his recital
in the RiverCenter Legacy Hall as a senior in the Columbus State University
Schwob School of Music. He is a renaissance man, an outstanding musician, an
artist and a beacon to all teachers and students of our community. Let a copy
of this resolution be forwarded to Michael "Jared" Martin.

Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia held on the
7th day of May, 2002, and adopted at said meeting by the affirmative vote of
