The Columbus, Georgia, Board of Tax Assessors met Wednesday, February 4, 2004,

at 2:00PM with Chairman Lawton Grantham, Assessors Richard Stallings, Ann

Grantham, William Braxton and Pat Hunter present. Also present was Chief

Appraiser Martin J. Land.



Assessor Ann Grantham made a motion to approve Minutes #04-04, Assessor Pat

Hunter second the motion, motion carried unanimously.



The Board approved the conservation use values for Parcel ID 137 001 005P.



Met with Pastor Florence representing Cusseta Road Christian Center, Inc.

requesting non-taxability for property located at 2336 Cusseta Rd (Parcel ID

041 024 002). Pastor Florence said the church purchased the property in July

2003 and it was used as a church on January 1, 2004. He said they are parking

on the east and west side of the church building. The Board requested a field

review.



Met with Mr. Eckstein regarding his personal property account # 05902101. Mr.

Eckstein said he took out a business license to operate a home inspection

business in 1998. He said he works for Bill Berry and Mr. Berry told him to get

a business license, since he was no longer able to operate a home inspection

business; however, Mr. Berry continued his business so Mr. Eckstein never

started a home inspection business. He said he never received any

correspondence regarding the returns, Official Tax Matter Notices and tax bills

until he recently received a delinquent bill. Assessor Richard Stallings made a

motion to remove the assessments for the years 1999 thru 2003, Assessor Ann

Grantham second the motion; the motion carried with three votes.
