The Columbus, Georgia, Board of Tax Assessors met Wednesday, September 22, 2004

at 2:00PM with Chairman Lawton Grantham, Assessors Richard Stallings, Ann

Grantham and Pat Hunter present. Also present was Chief Appraiser Martin J.

Land. Assessor William Braxton was absent.



Assessor Ann Grantham made a motion to approve Minutes # 36-04, Assessor Pat

Hunter seconded the motion, motion carried unanimously.



The Board approved assessment corrections for real estate.



Chief Appraiser Martin Land informed the Board that under the advice of City

Attorney Clifton Fay he searched the Secretary of State?s records. The search

revealed that Christ for India, Inc. (Hopegivers International) was listed as

active-non-compliance. The City Attorney advised since Christ for India, Inc.

were non-compliant with the Secretary of State, the tax exempt status should

not be granted for 2004. The Board also discussed other issues that may

disqualify them from receiving tax exempt status for 2004. The Board denied the

request for non-taxability for 2004.



Met with Mr. Bourgeois regarding the removal of homestead exemption for parcel

ID 081 020 013 (6528 Le Mans Ln). Mr. Bourgeois said he was getting a divorce

and moved into an apartment in May 2003. He said in the divorce settlement his

wife quitclaimed all her interest in the house to him and he moved back into

the house in August 2003. He showed the Board proof of his change of address

from the apartment back to his residence located at 6528 Le Mans Ln during the

year 2003. He also presented utility bills in his name for the property at 6528

Le Mans Ln. The Boad reinstated homestead exemption for 2004.



Chief Appraiser Martin Land presented assessment corrections for the Personal

Property Division, which were reviewed and approved as follows:
