WHEREAS, Mr. David R. Herring, with the Department of Fire and Emergency

Medical Services, retired on April 30, 2003;

WHEREAS, Mr. Herring has been with the Columbus Fire Department since September

21, 1974;

NOW, THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:

This Council hereby expresses its appreciation for the diligent and faithful

service of

MR. DAVID R. HERRING



who has served with the Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services for

over 28 years. We wish for him happiness and contentment in his retirement.

17, 1972;

WHEREAS, Mr. Shelburne W. Brown, former employee with the Columbus Police

Department, died on March 21, 2003;

WHEREAS, Mr. Brown retired on October 3, 1981 after serving 34 years with the

Columbus Police Department.

NOW, THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:

We hereby convey to the family of Mr. Shelburne W. Brown our sincere

condolences and deepest sympathy. Mr. Brown was an outstanding employee of the

Columbus Police Department and he will be missed by all who knew him.

WHEREAS, Mr. Charles Lanier Jones, Jr., former Chief of the Revenue Collection

Division of the Finance Department, died on April 2, 2003;

WHEREAS, Mr. Jones retired on December 31, 1992 after serving 21 years with the

Finance Department.

NOW, THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:

We hereby convey to the family of Mr. Charles Lanier Jones, Jr. our sincere

condolences and deepest sympathy. Mr. Jones was an outstanding employee of the

Consolidated Government and he will be missed by all who knew him.
