AN ORDINANCE

An Ordinance establishing parking management and enforcement areas for

Lakebottom Park/Weracoba Park (13th Street, 18th Avenue, Garrard Street,

Cherokee Avenue and 17th Street) and 9th Avenue between 15th Street and Linwood

Boulevard to be patrolled and enforced by special parking enforcement officers

of the Department of Transportation/METRA of Columbus, Georgia; authorizing the

Chief of Police to deputize special parking enforcement officers to enforce

parking and related traffic regulations in said areas; and for other purposes.

THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY ORDAINS:



SECTION 1.



Parking management and enforcement areas for Lakebottom Park/Weracoba Park

(13th Street, 18th Avenue, Garrard Street, Cherokee Avenue and 17th Street),

including all interior areas of the park, and 9th Avenue between 15th Street

and Linwood Boulevard are hereby established as shown on the attached maps,

which maps are incorporated herein by reference. Pursuant to O.C.G.A. ? 40-7-5,

special parking enforcement officers of the Department of Transportation/METRA

are authorized to use certain motorized vehicles for the enforcement of parking

and related traffic ordinances and regulations within the parking management

and enforcement areas and said parking management and enforcement areas are

incorporated herein by reference. Such motorized vehicles may include the use

of golf carts or other vehicles as determined by the Department of

Transportation/METRA for special parking enforcement officers in the

performance of their enforcement duties.



SECTION 2.



The Chief of Police is hereby authorized to deputize any necessary special

parking enforcement officers of the Department of Transportation/METRA for the

enforcement of parking and related traffic ordinances and regulations within

said parking management enforcement areas. The Chief of Police is further

authorized to apply for any vehicle permit which may be necessary for the

enforcement of such regulations.



SECTION 3.



It shall be unlawful for any person other than authorized enforcement

personnel or authorized delivery personnel to park a motorized vehicle anywhere

other than authorized public parking spaces within and adjacent to said parking

management and enforcement areas.



SECTION 4.



This ordinance shall become effective on May 1, 2003.



SECTION 5.



The City Manager or his representative is hereby authorized to erect

all necessary signage or traffic control devices for designation of restricted

or public parking areas within or adjacent to said parking management and

enforcement areas.



SECTION 6.



All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict with this ordinance

are hereby repealed.
