TAXICAB COMMISSION:
In response to a question of Councilor Henderson regarding the Taxicab
Commission, please be advised that there was a Taxicab Committee appointed in
1993 by Mayor Martin with four councilors serving, and a designee of the Police
Chief, as well as a representative from the Chamber of Commerce sitting in on
the meetings. Then In 1996, prior to the Commission being established there was
another Committee appointed with members of the Council, as well as various
representatives of the Taxicab Industry and Mr. John Golden did serve on that
Committee.
After the Commission was formed, Mr. Golden was also appointed to serve on
the Commission and was in his second term of office on the Commission when he
resigned.
