Recommendation
Authorize the City Manager to execute a Quit Claim Deed to St. Paul United \n \n Methodist Church for abandonment of an alley located along the rear of the \n \n Church properties at 1928 Forest Avenue, (a/k/a 185 023 001) and 2011 Wildwood \n \n Avenue (a/k/a 185 023 015) (see attached letter and tax map marked in yellow).

Background
St. Paul United Methodist Church is requesting that the City execute a Quit

Claim Deed for all rights, title and interest that the City may have in the

easement to the alley portion of the property at 1928 Forest Avenue (a/k/a 185

023 001) and 2011 Wildwood Avenue (a/k/a 185 023 015), Columbus, Muscogee

County, Georgia. The Church has acquired two adjoining lots that are bounded

on Leonard Street and Wildwood Avenue (see attached tax map). The purchase of

these lots is to construct a parking lot to serve its members. The alley to be

abandoned consists of 81.47 ft x 15 ft. +/- and 28.83 ft. x 7.5 ft. +/-. (See

tax map marked in yellow).
Analysis
The Engineering Department has examined the alley and has no objection to

abandoning the 81.47 ft. x 15 ft. +/- and 28.83 ft. x 7.5 ft. +/- along 1928

Forest Avenue & 2011 Wildwood Avenue portion of the easement. Written

confirmation has been received from all public utilities stating there are no

active utilities located on said easements.
