Background
-
This is a renewal application for the Urban League who is the administrator of
this grant. Columbus Consolidated Government is the designated fiscal agent
and passes the money received through to the agency. As proposed, this
grant has multiple functions targeting new mothers, middle school students and
teenagers on traffic hazards. Three objectives are identified: 1) inform
teenagers 14-17 on the importance of seat belts 2) educate new mothers on
proper usage of child safety restraint systems 3) educate high school and
middle school students on dangers of underage drinking. All these programs
are done in conjunction with many public and private partners including city
departments (Police, Fire/EMS, Sheriff, and Civic Center)
