Background
Subject land sits on Cusseta Road consisting of approximately 90 +/- acres. The

land is located in the southeastern portion of Columbus. The subject property

is located less than 1,000 feet from the Fort Benning Military Reservation. The

property will be used as an addition to the Green Space Program. The National

Park Service and Land and Water Conservation Service have approved this parcel

of property for a portion of the land swaps for the South sway for the South

Lumpkin Road Motor Park property. The South Lumpkin Road Motor Park is needed

for the Infantry Museum.
Analysis
The City has received funds from the State of Georgia to purchase properties

for the Green Space Program. This property is located in southeast Columbus

and will serve the Green Space program well.
Financial Considerations
The land is valued at $306,000.00 the Owner agrees to donate a value of

$102,500.00 to the Green Space Program and to accept payment in the amount of

$203,500.00. The Property is zoned R-2.

Legal Considerations
Council must approve the acceptance of real estate. Property will be

transferred by Warranty Deed.
Recommendations/ Actions
Approve the attached Resolution for the acquisition/donation of land to the

City.









A RESOLUTION

NO.

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACQUISITION/DONATION OF 90 +/- ACRES OF LAND BY A

CITIZEN, TO THE CITY OF COLUMBUS, MUSCOGEE COUNTY, GEORGIA (SEE ATTACHED MAPS).

WHEREAS, the above described property be acquired for the Green Space Program;

and,

WHEREAS, the property is available for sale; and,



WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the Consolidated Government of Columbus,

Georgia to have the City acquire the property with a partial donation for the

90 +/- acres of land; and,



WHEREAS, it has been determined the value of the property at

$306,000.00 is fair and the Seller agrees to a donation of $102,500.00 and

cash upon closing of $203,500.00.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY

RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

That the City Manager is hereby authorized to purchase the property

at Cusseta Road consisting of 90 +/- acres of land for the total purchase price

of $203,500.00, accept the donation, and file the Warranty Deed with Superior

Court Clerk for permanent record.

Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia, held

members of said Council.
