Recommendation

Recommend approval of the attached ordinance that concludes the reconstruction \n \n of Bay Avenue and 11th Street as part of the Riverside Building project by: \n \n * Deleting the street segment and right-of-way of Bay Avenue from the north \n \n right-of-way line of 11th Street to the south right-of-way line of 12th Street \n \n from the "Official Street Map, City of Columbus, Georgia;" \n \n * Declaring said street segment surplus authorizing disposal in accordance to \n \n City Code; \n \n * Providing Utility Easements of record and those unkown; \n \n * Amending "Official Street Map, City of Columbus, Georgia" for the newly \n \n relocated Bay Avenue as a City street; \n \n * Amending "Official Street Map, City of Columbus, Georgia" by extending 11th \n \n Street west to the new alignment of Bay Avenue identified as Parcel 600.

Background

Resolution #565-02 was approved by Council to temporarily close Bay Avenue to

facilitate the construction of the Riverside Building project which realigns

Bay Avenue between 11th Street and 12th Street. This work is complete and

ready to transfer street right-of-way between the original alignment of Bay

Avenue to the new alignment around the west side of the Riverside Building.

Analysis

This ordinance provides for the legal transfer of property to accommodate this

project.

Financial Considerations

The deeding and relocation of Bay Avenue and its right-of-way will not include

any exchange of funds.

Legal Considerations

The deletion and acceptance of a public street from the "Official Street Map,

City of Columbus, Georgia" and declaration as surplus requires Council

approval.

Recommendations/ Actions

Council is requested to approve the attached ordinance authorizing the

realignment of Bay Avenue and 11th Street as part of the Riverside Building

project.
