Background
KaBoom is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization chartered in the District of

Columbia. They develop, manage and coordinate community-building playgrounds

for its community and funding partners, culminating in a one-day installation

event known as ?Build Day?. KaBoom has received charitable support from W.C.

Bradley Company and Home Depot. This charitable support will be used to erect

a playground system at Benning Hills Park. The total cost of the project is

$57,000.00. The Playground System is scheduled to be installed on September

25, 2003 at Benning Hills Park located at 101 Lafayette Drive.
Analysis
The Parks and Recreation Department has a list of seven (7) playground systems

on its enhancement list. Carver Park, Rigdon and Cooper Creek received new

playground systems in FY02 /FY 03. We do not have sufficient dedicated

funding for other playground systems at this time. This Public-Private

Partnership will allow us to accomplish completion of the fourth of seven (7)

playground systems desired.
Financial Considerations
The funding partners for this playground system are W.C. Bradley, Home Depot

and the City of Columbus. Home Depot will be responsible for $25,000; W.C.

Bradley Company will be responsible for $25,000; and the City of Columbus will

be responsible for $7,000. The $7,000 will be funded with 1993 SPLOST. The

Parks and Recreation department will be responsible for the site preparation at

Benning Hills Park.
Projected Annual Fiscal Impact Statement
Legal Considerations
The City is required to sign an agreement with KaBoom! outlining the

responsibility of each party. The City Attorney?s Office has reviewed the

agreement.
Recommendations/ Actions
