Approval
Approved
Background
This program is designed to augment the physical education component of a

student's school day for the youth of Columbus enrolled in the Parks and

Recreation Community Schools Division program. Participants are provided

recreational and educational activities until 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday

at 33 locations within the city.
Analysis
The Georgia Department of Education is the funding source for this grant. This

will add a marketable dimension to the existing recreational component of this

program. This program will help fill the void that exist in our student's

physical education opportunities.
Financial Considerations
The total grant amounts from the Georgia Department of Education is $177,375.

The grant requires a 10% match for awardment. This 10% match will have no

financial impact on the city due to the fact that the match will be absorbed by

the personnel costs associated with current staff. These site staff members

will be responsible for overseeing the program.
Projected Annual Fiscal Impact Statement
Legal Considerations
