Background

Columbus Housing Initiative, Inc., has had affordable housing as it's focus

since its inception. This grant (if awarded) will provide additional funding

in the amount of $400,000, over a thirty month period. This funding will

provide the opportunity for 40 youth to become involved in learning the job

skills necessary for a career in home building, CHI anticipate 28 graduates. A

minimum of one half of the youth is expected to receive GED's. Columbus

Housing Initiative anticipates building four new homes in conjunction with the

Youthbuild Grant over the 30 month period.

Analysis

A Resolution of support is needed by the applicant to score well on the

application.

Financial Considerations

No Local Government funds will be used in the performance of this grant.

Legal Considerations

All resolutions have to be approved by Council. Support of this resolution

does not obligate the city in any way.
