Approved
Background
A new Hilton Garden Inn was constructed this year at 1500 Bradley Lakes

Boulevard which is within the Brookstone Centre Office Park. The owners are

concerned that while their business is visible to motorist from the J.R. Allen

Parkway, motorist have a difficult time finding their way to the Inn. The

normal process for business name/advertising signs is to secure a permit from

the Inspections and Code Division locating the sign on the business property or

nearby private property.
Analysis
The City's sign ordinance prohibits business/advertising signs on public street

rights-of-way. There are several sketches of the proposed site and site

included as information.
Financial Considerations
The City will not incur any expenses for this request.
Projected Annual Fiscal Impact Statement
Legal Considerations
Since this request is in violation of the City Code to allow business name

signs with logos on public right-of-way, then, a variance will have to be

approved by the City Council.
Recommendations/ Actions
Approve the attached resolution authorizing a variance to the City Code Section

17E.7 Signs in the Public Right-of-way to authorize the installation of a

Hilton Garden Inn sign to be located in the center median of Bradley Lake

Boulevard.
