Background
Georgia Department of Transportation provides funding to assist local

governments for resurfacing of local streets on an annual basis. The funding

amount historically is around $500,000.

During the past year City staff and a consulting engineering firm have been

implementing a Pavement Management Plan. The primary focus of the plan was to

have an independent source evaluate and provide an inventory of the condition

of local streets. From the evaluation a priority list can be generated that

would guide the street maintenance program.

The maintenance program will consist of crack sealing and resurfacing. The

attached list of street fall into the category of needing resurfacing. This

list consist of those streets that fall into the highest category for

resurfacing.

The evaluation of the road network has also determined that approximately 20%

of the road network needs reconstruction These street are not candidates for he

GDOT LARP Program. This is due to the conditions having deteriorated beyond

the requirements of resurfacing. These streets will be addressed through the

Paving Fund and other sources to be determined at a later date.

The streets that are being submitted to GDOT have an average condition index of

between 48 and 50.50. Until additional evaluation can be conducted 48 is the

cut off between reconstruction of a street or resurfacing. These streets

total approximately 28 miles.
