Recommendation
Approve the attached Resolution to file an application for $80,000 in funding \n \n from The National Trust for Historic Preservation under the Preservation \n \n Development Initiative Program.

Background
The Historic Columbus Foundation, the Regional Development Council (RDC) and

the City of Columbus have collaborated to complete a grant application for

funding to finance professional consultants who in conjunction with the MidTown

Project will develop a long-range comprehensive plan to reestablish this

historic, suburban area as a community.
Analysis
The plan will address issues in the community including land use, commercial

retail and office development, neighborhood schools, transportation connections

and safety and crime. The project will be guided by a steering committee,

which is a public private partnership of city officials and representatives of

various stakeholders in the community.
Financial Considerations
This grant will require a $26,050 in-kind match from the City.

Legal Considerations
City Council must approve all grant applications.
Recommendations/ Actions
Approve the attached Resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute all

documents related to the National Trust for Historic Preservation Development

Initiative Program Grant.
