Background
The Traffic Engineering Division investigated a request for the above described

parking restriction along 19th Street. A Parking Survey was distributed to the

five property owners that front this segment of 19th Street on October 24,

2005. The Parking Survey responses are listed below for those who

support/oppose the proposed parking restriction:

Property Address Supports proposal

2101 - 19th Street Yes

2111 - 19th Street Yes

2201 - 19th Street No

1815 Carter Avenue No

1816 Wildwood Avenue No
Analysis
19th Street is a typical 30 foot wide residential street with low traffic

volumes. Traffic Engineering periodically checked the street during the day

finding that normally only two to three vehicles parked on the south side of

the street. Within the last two weeks, we have seen as high as seven vehicles

parked on the street. Still, residential streets are expected to have cars

randomly parked on either side of the street.

The Traffic Engineering Division can not find a traffic accident, safety or

operational problem that warrants enacted the proposed restriction.

Consequently, without any traffic safety issues and three out of five

properties opposing the restriction, we do not recommend a Two Hour Parking

Restriction.
Financial Considerations
The Traffic Engineering Division will have to install Parking signs should this

ordinance be approved incurring an expense of approximately $400.00.
Projected Annual Fiscal Impact Statement
Legal Considerations
All parking restrictions require Council approving an Ordinance for the

proposed restrictions.
Recommendations/ Actions
Consider approving the attached Ordinance enacting a Two Hour Parking

Restriction for a segment of 19th Street.
