Background
-
The City entered into negotiations with Muscogee County School Board for a land
swap (Benning Hills property for Northside on Veterans Parkway between Williams
Road and Cooper Creek Road - a total of 23.56 acres) for a recreation center.
The City then determined it needed additional property for ball fields (6
acres) and a fire station site (1.5 acres). The School Board agreed to sell
excess property to the City for such uses for a price of $58,741.
-
Analysis
-
The property is needed by the City for ball fields and a fire station. The bid
has been let for construction of the fire station and it's imperative the
property be in our ownership prior to proceeding with construction.
